eneloop Bike Regenerates Energy While You Ride

WHAT IS OUR NEW TECHNOLOGY?

When SANYO’s eneloop made its U.S debut in November 2009, the new “Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle” was destined for greatness, exemplified two months later by its winning of the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show Best of Innovations prize. With eneloop’s distinctive loop charge system and two-wheel drive, the electric motor assists pedaling for a smooth and practically effortless ride. Since the battery is actually charged while riding, this hybrid electric bicycle is a model of efficient transportation, making it a great alternative to a motorcycle or motorbike. When its rear brake lever is depressed, it engages the motor’s generator mode, putting the unique “Create Energy” charging system into action. Meanwhile, the twowheel drive configuration works in combination with the motor-driven front wheel and the pedal-assisted rear wheel for a stable ride on various terrains and at varying speeds.

WHAT SETS US APART?

Although the SANYO eneloop can be ridden as a regular bicycle, its main feature is that it provides the perfect amount of assisted power, adjusting to uphill, downhill or flat terrain, so that the rider can have a more efficient way to get around than a polluting car or motorbike. The bicycle’s “energy loop” (ene+loop) charging system activates when coasting or braking, allowing a smooth, comfortable ride that can last up to 40 miles per charge, meaning owners will not need to make as many recharging sessions via its traditional plug-in charger. The eneloop battery, which is unique to SANYO, encourages consumers to make the move towards recycling and reusing, while providing a great way to commute around town.

WILL IT SELL?

In addition to being useful to the average consumer for getting to work and back, college students might consider the SANYO eneloop as a serious alternative to commuting to school or getting around campus. In places with a high levels of tourism (Las Vegas, for instance), eneloop rentals in a commercial capacity can add to the novelty of the tourist experience. The eneloop bicycle also gives people the freedom to get around on their own without worrying about traffic or transit systems that might break down or become delayed. The bike can even be parked in special shelters equipped with solar panels to naturally recharge its battery, eliminating the common difficulty of hunting for parking.
